The wedding details can be full of challenges. To avoid uncomfortable oversights in the planning process, you may want to do a little research on the proper way to address your wedding invitations.
Invitation Etiquette is one of the many details of your planning that should not be ignored. Because this is the first time you are engaging the guests in reference to your wedding plans, make sure to give a first impression! Simply follow the rules of wedding invitation etiquette.
One thing to consider while addressing your envelopes is the outer envelope; it should use the title and full name of the invitee.
Also, take into consideration the following:
- Use the invitees title and full name on the outer envelope, and just the title and the last name on the inner envelope.
- If the couple you want to invite are not married but are living together, address the outer and inner envelope with "Mr. John Doe and Miss Mary Brown".
- Always use Ms. or Miss for divorced female guest.
- To invite the children of your guests, add the first names only of the children on the inner envelope under the names of the parents.
- To indicate if your invitee can bring a date, on the outer envelope use the invitee name only, but on the inner envelope you can write: "invitee name and Guest".
These are some of the challenges of writing an invitation. Wedding etiquette is easy once you understand the rules.
