Labor Day 2011

Last week I had the amazing privilege to go on a cruise with one of my favorite people in the whole wide world, Julie Bell.  I was constantly reminded to be a light in the middle of the darkness.  And was captivated by her sweetness, patience and just her ability to love everyone around her.  She worked for Holland of America traveling throughout the world, as a main singer in their fantastic shows for over a year.  Thankfully, I was a direct recipient of her complimentary cruise employment benefits when she invited me to go with her.  Not even hurricane Irene could keep us from having this fabulous vacation.

Because of the hurricane, all  flights, including mine, got cancelled to any city on the east coast.  It was on!  For a day an a half, Julie exhausted all possibilities of having me travel from Miami to any neighboring airport of NYC.  Then, Saturday afternoon, she came across a friend that was traveling from Montreal to NYC Sunday evening and two hours later I was re-routed to Canada to catch a ride with him.

Tailgating Irene through the State of NY, going around closed roads and praying without ceasing, somehow two days later I was on my ship.  That's what I call labor.

And finally we arrived to this... A typical day in Bermuda!

  3. You may not ever travel to Maine to see the Furbish lousewort. But the weeds in any patch of natural vegetation issue the same challenge. We have survived, say the weeds, since the Cretaceous. Man is a mere novice in evolution compared with us. He hasn't yet learnt the secret of the weeds: how to create fail-safe communities.
