Playing with flowers in New York City

Earlier this year, I had the beautiful opportunity to collaborate with my good friend Robin Zachary in New York to do flowers for a tables spread she styled for September/October Bridal Guide Magazine.  The experience was just energizing and so encouraging to be among such creative group of people.  Thank you so much Bridal Guide for this beautiful opportunity.

Ageless Charm

Villa Woodbine is the quintessential ethereal, romantic backdrop for this timeless bride and groom.  Located in Coconut Grove, a charming neighborhood south of Downtown Miami, the Villa has elegant, Spanish-inspired arches, grand, sweeping laggios, and dreamy ivy clinging to the off-white walls where it always feels like a feast is about to be served.  Gorgeous sunset-colored florals rest on the tabletop alongside gold-embossed crystal goblets.  The whole setting feels like it was painted and curated by the sunset herself, with the sun-bleached accents and warm tones washing over the whole setting.  We can almost hear the laughter from the impending celebration and smell the feast about to be served.  There is an air of jubilee, a new chapter unfolding.

Ozzy Garcia perfectly captures the sun-drenched affair, chasing the light with his lens.  The bride's entire look is simple and natural, with barely-there makeup and gowns that drape flawlessly.  Each gown the bride dons from Chris Riley Bridal conveys timelessness while also evoking the style nineteen-twenty-something affair with modest necklines and draped skirts.  Her hair is pulled loosely into a full-bodied chignon styled by Carolyn Jones.  Her bouquet drapes romantically, brimming over the vines and various garden roses in rich blushing tones, all provided by Divine Design.  We are taken on a whirlwind trip to Spain and back for this lovely garden party wedding.  This utterly romantic sun-drenched affair is any bride's dream.

Dream of the Sea

Inspired by the distinctive landscape of South Florida, we situated ourselves on the shoreline of Key Biscayne, a glorious location that quietly reveals the spirit and eighteenth century history of this area.  The lighthouse is the oldest structure in Dade County and tells old tales of marauding pirates that passed through these islands.  I was influenced by the azure blue of the sea, golden rays of sunshine and lush greenery that characterizes this unique area.  Magenta and deep coral tulips, ranunculus and ivy vines highlighted the surrounding as the sun set, inviting the night fall.  Feather and Stone captured it all so amazingly, not only this stunning couple but all the finer details of the setting and scenery.

The magnificent Marchesa gown contrasted our backdrop with a gentle under layer of gold lace covered in decadent pearls and crystals.  I felt it made for an elegant distinction from the simple beauty of the blues skies and sea.  The cultured table made by Wood that Works paired with gold accented plates, glasses and cutlery, vegetation and pop of color from the blooms that seemed to be growing out of the center of it all.  An island affair that would excite any bride, highlighting the exquisiteness of this paradise.
